Welcome to Surfside

Port Erin Holiday Cottage
Isle of Man

“ Surfside” Holiday Cottage Isle of Man is centrally located in Port Erin on Falcon’s Hill. Turn left out of the front door, and it is 40 yards to the beach and the wonderful promenade. Turn right, and within 100 yards you are in the centre of the village with all the facilities you would need and expect – yet stay inside, and you have total seclusion. Total seclusion yes – but not at the expense of some wonderful views from the main living room and bedroom! Ample car parking is available near to the property. From the outside “Surfside” looks deceptively small, but this is a little misleading as the property is built into the hillside leading to a spacious and comfortable cottage which will allow you to enjoy your visit to the Isle of Man to the full.

Perfect for Walkers

The Isle of Man offers outstanding walks for everyone, and is home to the internationally accredited Rad Na Foillan – “The Way of the Gull”. As its name suggests, this is a coastal walks taking in the island’s stunning scenery. The Milennium Walk on the other hand traverses the internal parts of the Island, offering up the majestic splendour of the peaks and our very own mountain, Snaefel. Port Erin itself boasts its own walks, not least up to the Milner Tower on Bradda Head.

Right on the Beach

As you can see from the pictures, Surfside is literally a stones throw from the beach. The cottage has deck chairs, beach mats and beach game equipment, so if its a day on the beach you’re looking for, its well catered for! Should you be looking for something a little more energetic, from just round the corner you can hire a kayak to explore the coast and its caves.

Great for Cyclists

As you might imagine being the birthplace of both Mark Cavendish and Peter Kennaugh, cycling is very popular in the Island. Cycling the roads will provide countless opportunities to enjoy the scenery and heritage sites. Alternatively there are many areas for “off-roading”, and if you are really adventurous, there’s the “end to end” route from North to South!

Shops close by

The main village shopping and amenities area is literally within a minutes walk! There you will find Shoprite (a locally owned supermarket), Co Op, a butcher, two chinese takeaways and various hostelries. Along the promenade you will find more hostelries and cafes. The village also has a number of churches representing various denominations, a library, and a number of small independent traders.

We would agree with all previous comments. We were not lucky enough to see any of the red sunsets, but we did see two female seals with their white pups in the next bay. Since Easyjet started their new route between London Luton and IoM, it is a quick and easy journey, with just a 6 mile drive at either end.

We have just had a wonderful holiday at Surfside. Lovely cottage, with everything you need and great location for the beach and other wonderful places on the island. Delicious Pizza place nearby. We swam, snorkelled, kayaked and surfed without having to drive anywhere. On our last day we could see a seal swimming in the bay from our window! What more could you want.

Our first stay at Surfside - what a great find! We really appreciated the warm, helpful and knowledgable welcome from Hilary and the Surfside attention to detail that ensured that everything you might need whilst staying there is provided. The cottage is a real gem. Comfortable and stylish, well laid out and deceptively spacious, a home from home to return to at the end of the day and an equally attractive proposition for spending some time relaxing, watching the sea, the sky and the fine view of Bradda. And, if you fancy a walk on the beach or a dip in the sea, open the front door, walk about 20 paces, and you're there. Perfect. We'll be back.

Having first stayed some 12 years ago followed by two further visits then a little over 8 years as permanent residents of Port Erin it was a delight to be back for a short visit and had no hesitation in booking Surfside once again. Comfortable as ever and in a superb location close to the water and village facilities it could not be better.

Had a wonderful week staying at the cottage during the Classic TT/ManxGP. It was and ideal location for ourselves so that we could go to watch the racing we wanted to see and not be troubled by road closures on other days. The cottage has all you need either for self catering or in a good area for eating out. The views from the cottage were amazing, one evening watching a fantastic sunset, while the next watching the mist come in following a beautiful day. They owners also provide a lot of information about the area, places to visit, takeway/delivery, maps and programmes. The bedrooms have plenty of storage space and the beds are comfortable. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to friends.

Just back from our 2nd visit and already booked for next year. Lovely cottage with everything you need, in the perfect spot just a few meters from the beach. I love it here and so relaxing, just what the doctor ordered ( and he did)! Thanks to Hilary and Steve, you have a little gem here. See you next year, Sharon, Alan and Sam Xx

Back again for our second year at Surfside. Just as wonderful as we remembered. The breathtaking view over the bay from the lounge window is worth the visit to the island on its own. The weather wasn't as kind to us this year as last, but we were wonderfully cosy, tucked up comfortably in the cottage and as it is just a nip to quite a few pubs, cafes and restaurants we didn't have far to go to enjoy a pint and a lovely meal whilst watching the wind and rain outside. There was still plenty to do even in the inclement weather and I would recommend a visit to the Manx Museum in Douglas, we spent quite a few interesting hours here. I can't recommend the cottage highly enough and the owners positively go out of their way to make your stay as easy as possible. We will be back again next year, all booked already!

This is the fourth time in three years we've stayed here. Yet again, we've had an amazing family holiday. The location is fantastic; it's right next to the beach which is great for two little ones. The views from the lounge are superb as you can sit on the sofa watching the sunset...great when you're stuck in in the evening with two young children sleeping downstairs. As well as the beach on your doorstep, there's Port Erin Steam Railway no more than a 1 minute walk away, ice-cream parlours and local shops. Hilary, is very welcoming and always meets us when we arrive. We'll definitely be making a fifth visit here soon. Thankyou, Hilary, for another amazing stay.Xx

Lovely cottage, full of character and so close to beach, town centre shops and railway station. Great to relax downstairs in the conservatory in the morning sun and in the lounge in the evening watching the sea and sun. Our first visit to the Isle of Man - weather was fine but cold wind for last week of April but plenty to do and see. Would like to return to IoM and Surfside will be our first choice without a doubt.

Loved everything about the cottage. Warm and cosy with the wonderful views from the bedroom and sitting room. We had two sunny and one rainy day so did a mixture of things in the south. Driving, walking and eating. Lots of info in the little office and had fun being tourists. Got teased by most establishments we visited as to whether we got our passports stamped for coming so far South! Highly recommend staying and owners Hilary and Steve most welcoming :-)

We have stayed in this beautiful cottage more than once and want to come again. The couple who own it are so lovely. The cottage is located on the beach which was perfect once again for our boys to enjoy. It is so well equipped and clean. Tesco delivered our food shop delivery which was a bonus as well as having a waitrose nearby

We live in the Isle of Man and wanted a relaxing no hassle weekend away from home life in Douglas and to sample living on the sea front. It was great, heavy rain, gale force winds and the sun all added to the cosy experience we wanted and expected in February. We had Sea views, log fire, pub, local shops, takeaways and restaurants, all close by. Lovely cottage, lots of room, well maintained, and everything you would need. Lots of information leaflets in study for things to do, lots of DVDS & CDS to play on the TV.

As a couple we spent the New Year at the lovely cottage and we had *** stay. The location is great, a few yards walk from all the shops, 2 pubs and numerous cafe's and especially the 20 or so paces to the beach. The cottage itself is so cosy and everything you need is at hand, the top floor is the living space with a nice kitchen, study and sitting room warmed by a wonderful log burner with *** views over the bay. The downstairs has 2 double bedrooms with plenty of storage space and comfy beds. I would recommend this cottage to anyone especially if you have children because of distance to the beach. We have already booked a repeat stay but for a week this time, as well as another long weekend.
